Soylent advises customers to discard vomit-inducing Food Bars

Those Soylent Food Bars, the ones making some consumers violently ill, you’ll want to go ahead and get rid of those. The company is halting shipments, it announced in a blog post Wednesday, and it advises customers to discard "any remaining bars in their possession."

"After hearing from our customers, we immediately began investigating the cause of the issue and whether it was linked to a problem with the bars," the blog post reads. "So far we have not yet identified one and this issue does not appear to affect our other drinks and powder."

Soylent will contact Food Bar customers via email and offer full refunds.

After possible health issues first came to light on Soylent’s forums, the company said it had received complaints about "less than 0.03 percent of the number of bars we have sold," and it attributed the illnesses to individual allergies or intolerances to specific ingredients in the bars. Now, Soylent is taking a more conciliatory tone.

"Though our investigation into this matter continues, we have decided to err on the side of caution and take this preventative step," the post reads. "We are deeply sorry if any customer had any negative experiences after eating a Soylent bar."
