PS Plus Will Likely Break One Big New Trend in 2021 | Game Rant - GameRant

techsooper.blogspot.com

Without a doubt, PS Plus has set up a strong framework for 2021. The service diverged from its one-big Sony AAA game and one more niche game earlier this year, subtly ramping up hype for the PS5 by offering bigger and better PS Plus games as the months went on. This somewhat culminated in the reveal that PS5 owners are getting a third PS5 game in some months (for two months).

Bugsnax's availability will come to an end on January 4, 2021, so PS5 owners may want to try to claim it quickly if they have not yet. In February, Destruction AllStars will launch as a PS5 PS Plus game, likely continuing that trend for two months after that. However, this is likely to come to an end by the end of 2021...in the best way possible.

For now, the PS5's available games are not as plentiful as some would expect. There's quite a few, for sure, but not enough where Sony is likely to give out a free PS5 game every month. Combined with the fact that many are big AAA games that would never likely appear on the service, such as Spider-Man Miles Morales, and it's simple enough to see why Sony may be holding back for now. However, as 2021 proceeds, that's going to change. Big names like God of War (if it hits its release date) and Horizon will be gracing the PS5, as well as a variety of smaller games as well.

Prior to the release of the PS5, this may not have been as likely, but Sony has shown a huge amount of interesting in keeping PS Plus on the tip of everyone's tongue. A free PS5 game, ready to be claimed across two months, does just that. As the service expands and the games release, there's a good chance that by the end of the year, Sony will have a monthly rotation of PS5 games. That's not to say PS4 support will end—just that something like two PS4 games and a PS5 game seem like an inevitability.

Of course, December 2020 saw either the PS4 or PS5 version of Worms Rumble become available, so something in the middle may happen between now and then. PS Plus shifts up patterns and trends every few months, it seems, and this too will pass. But this is likely a move to a more PS5 intensive service. Now, how exactly Sony approaches it is only known to Sony, but by the end of 2021, having PS Plus shifted more, if not equally, toward PS5 is a good move for the company.

After all, more consumers will hopefully have their hands on the console by then, more PS5 games make it to where Sony can start releasing some without eliminating everything available, and so on. While it is more likely to happen in 2022, it wouldn't even be necessarily surprising to see something like Demon's Souls on PS Plus near the end of 2021. Bluepoint's games have a tendency to pop up there, and that's going to be a good way to introduce newcomers who didn't have the console at launch. Ultimately, it remains to be seen how PS Plus handles 2021, but the two month trend will likely break by the end of it, introducing new and old PS5 owners and PS Plus subscribers to an array of premium titles.

PS Plus subscribers get at least 2 free games every month.
