LUBBOCK, Texas – For the fifth time in program history and third consecutive season, the Texas Tech baseball team will host the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

The No. 8 Red Raiders (39-15) square off with No. 9 Stanford (36-15) this weekend, starting Friday at 2 p.m. on ESPNU. Game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday on EPNU, with an 'if necessary' game slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2/ESPNU.

No. 9 Stanford defeated UC Irvine late Monday night in the deciding Game 7 of the Stanford Regional. The Cardinal will come to Lubbock for the first time in program history.

Tech and Stanford have met four times in the history of the two schools, including three times in the NCAA Tournament and once last season. The Cardinal took 2-of-3 games from the Red Raiders in their first NCAA Regional appearance back in 1995. Tech evened the all-time series with a 7-2 win over the Cardinal last season at the Round Rock Classic.

The Red Raiders advanced to the Super Regional round with a third-consecutive sweep of the Lubbock Regional. Tech opened with a 6-3 win over Army before defeating North Carolina, 7-2, to advance to the regional finals. An 8-2 win over No. 21 UCLA on Sunday clinched the regional championship.

Texas Tech is one of two schools in the country to sweep its regional the last three years. Additionally, the five Super Regional appearances since 2014 is tied for the most of any school in the nation outside of Vanderbilt. The Red Raiders are 4-0 all-time in Super Regionals with all four of those coming in Lubbock.
