LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese Cowgirls (2-1-0) defeated Louisiana Tech (2-2-0) 2-0 to pick up their second shutout win through the first three games.

In what was an even match through the first half, the Cowgirls were able to tack on two goals in the second half.

The Pokes depth stood out on the night as all 21 Cowgirls who saw the field contributed in the win.

Emma Roccaforte was a steady presence throughout in the net making save after save while handing La. Tech it's first shutout loss on the year.

The Cowgirls doubled the Lady Techsters shots on goals 10-5.

First Half:
A very even half that featured a lot of back and forth. The Cowgirls played solid defense all half long while maintaining an attacking presence throughout. McNeese outshot La. Tech 10 to five in the first half.

Havana Johnson just missed a one-touch volley off the post seven minutes in.

Olivia Broussard led the defense, helping force most shots outside the box.

Second Half:
58'
Anna Watson got the Pokes on the board a perfectly placed free-kick from 35 yards that would have been good from 45 yards out. It was her second free-kick goal in as many games.

64' Abbi Morrell tapped in the rebound from Morgan Schooley's kick from midfield that hit off the post to make the game 2-0 McNeese. Schooley gets credited with the assist.

Head Coach Drew Fitzgerald

"She (Anna Watson) knew she wanted that shot from the get-go and its big she's been hitting her free kicks we've been working on them in training… and it's obviously huge for us to have the ability to score a goal off restarts as its such a big part of the game."

"I thought the defense played better tonight, I think some of the shots we gave up from outside weren't great shots to give up so even thought I love that we kept them outside the box I still think we can do a little better job there but I think the defense stepped up."

"The story of the game tonight was our depth, every sub came on and made a difference and they brought energy. It was a huge turn in the sense that the game would feel like it was getting even then we'd sub and all the sudden it was back in our favor. I felt like that was the difference tonight, the players who stepped on and the impact they were able to make."

Head Coach Drew Fitzgerald wins the 50th game of his head coaching career.
