LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball held off Texas Tech for a 3-1 win, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17, on Friday night at United Supermarkets Arena.

With the win, the Longhorns (23-1, 14-1) secured at least a share of their fifth-consecutive Big 12 Conference Championship.

Logan Eggleston had a big match, leading the Longhorns with 19 kills and adding nine digs, four blocks and two service aces.

Molly Phillips also came up big for the Longhorns, with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Skylar Fields added eight kills and two blocks.

Melanie Parra had a great all-around match, finishing with seven kills, four service aces and eight digs. Brionne Butler added six kills and two blocks.

Jhenna Gabriel dished out 40 assists and added six digs, two service aces and two kills.

Nalani Iosia led the Longhorns with 11 digs and added one ace.

Texas and Texas Tech were neck-and-neck early in the first set before Parra went on a run from the service line. Three-straight aces gave Texas a 10-6 lead and they cruised to a 25-17 first set win.

The second was tied at 15 before the Red Raiders were able to take control and tie the match up 1-1. The final two sets were all Texas, as the Longhorns comfortably closed out the win.

Texas and Texas Tech will square off again on Saturday at 7 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena.
