The company says it will provide employees with severance and other resources to help employees with their "transition." Rackspace reported in March having 6,800 employees in 23 countries, including 3,100 in North America. Rackspace, which provide public and private cloud services, moved into a new headquarters in San Antonio last year, coming off a history of net losses for despite revenue growth, Express-News reported in February.

Rackspace CEO Amar Maletira said in February that the company was bracing for "choppy" financial quarters in the coming months.

"Long term, we are optimistic on the secular trends in multicloud," the company said in a statement. "We are confident in our strategy, and now have the right operating model to win and thrive."
