Reds reminiscent of 'Ted Lasso' how tech changed tipping | Daily Briefing - The Cincinnati Enquirer

techsooper.blogspot.com

Good morning! I'm Gordon Wittenmyer, and I cover the Cincinnati Reds for The Enquirer.

Apparently, the Reds used to lose baseball games?

Yeah, right. I’ll believe it when I see it. And having just arrived in town two weeks ago to cover the team, I haven’t seen it yet.

Maybe that has something to do with the help I’ve offered star rookie Elly De La Cruz on running through his third base coach's stop signs and not squaring up pitches (but somehow hitting homers anyway) – two skills I excelled at during my own quickly stunted playing “career.”

Or just maybe it has something to do with what manager David Bell and many of his players say when they try to explain their unexpected success, including the franchise’s longest winning streak since 1957.

Most of it sounds like it’s straight out of “Ted Lasso” and the relentlessly positive team-building, inclusiveness and “belief” behind every storyline in the hit TV series.

Turns out it’s no coincidence.

Learn more about the Reds’ ongoing search for the zen of Ted Lasso – and even their one-time search for the man behind the series, lead actor and co-creator Jason Sudeikis, in my recent article. (You can find that here.)

Before you go: Wait ... local chili parlors have other food options?

Cincinnati is known for its uniquely spiced (yet polarizing) chili. From Skyline to Gold Star and Blue Ash to Price Hill, the options for three-ways are endless.

However (believe it or not), our local parlors have dishes that aren't filled to the brim with chili. And some of them will freaking knock your socks off.

Have you had Gold Star's burger? Or what about Price Hill's Hangover Bowl? We visited several local parlors to find their best non-chili dishes, in the name of science.
