LUBBOCK, Texas – Despite holding a 17-6 shot advantage, Texas Tech fell to Arizona, 1-0, Sunday at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

After both sides combined for just two shots on goal through the opening 45 minutes of play, the Wildcats (2-0-0) Megan Chelf took a pass off the goal line from Maddy Koleno to net the game-winner.

"It is a bitter pill to swallow," head coach Tom Stone said. "A 17-6 shot advantage is not an ideal storyline. It underscores how well Arizona played. They deserve credit for holding onto the ball, making things difficult for us and for matching up well. But when you see you had that many chances, it is disheartening because that is a game we should've won."

Arizona jumped out of the gates playing fast and physical with Chelf picking up a yellow card in the 13th minute.

Gisselle Kozarski came out of the midfield and tallied Texas Tech's (1-1-0) first shot on goal of the night in the 35th minute before the Wildcats followed with their lone shot on goal in the first half with just six minutes to play.

The quiet first half set up an exciting second half that quickly saw Madison White make a stellar save in the 54th minute. After a bad pass, White laid out to cover Nicole Dallin's shot attempt.

After Chelf found the back of the net in the 68th minute, Taylor Zdrojewski and Macy Schultz created Tech's best scoring chance, when Zdrojewski turned a fired a shot from about 15 yards out.

The shot was on frame, but Arizona keeper Hope Hisley was able to deflect the ball away. Zdrojewski's rebound fell right to Schultz, but the senior's shot attempt was also swallowed up by Hisley.

The Red Raiders (1-1-0) continued to search for the elusive equalizer, tallying a pair of shots, before the final whistle sounded
