Three Things to Know

1. The Class of 2022 for the Virginia Tech Sports of Hall of Fame will be honored. The legendary seven-member class was announced this past summer on July 13 and features four individuals that were a part of football, including defensive back Kam Chancellor, linebacker Vince Hall, strength and conditioning coach Mike Gentry and quarterback Bruce Arians. The quartet, as well as track and field NCAA champions Dorotea Habazin and Marcel Lomnický and swimming and diving All-American Sara Smith, will be honored during the game. 2. Whoever can win the turnover margin will have the upper hand. The Yellow Jackets rank No. 3 in the country in turnover margin (1.50), with creating 18 turnovers compared to their only six committed. Taking care of the football has its perks and the Hokies have done just that recently, with not committing a turnover at then-No. 24 NC State last week and only having one versus Miami (Fla.) in their previous game. The caveat, though, has been forcing them, and Virginia Tech seeks to do that Saturday against a Georgia Tech team that rarely coughs it up.

3. Both teams are still finding their way. Georgia Tech has an interim head coach in Brent Key, who is in his fourth season in Atlanta and served as the offensive line coach before the Yellow Jackets made a coaching change in late September. The team initially got hot following the move and won at then-No. 24 Pitt and followed with an overtime victory over Duke, but has dropped its last two to Virginia and Florida State. The Hokies on the other hand are coming off a one-point loss on the road to the Wolfpack following their off week.

Top Performers in Week 9

Wide receiver Kaleb Smith: Last Thursday, Smith put on a show with two deep catches and finished with three receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown. His longest one was an 85-yarder, which was the longest offensive play of the season, and his other chunk play was 50 yards.

Linebacker Alan TisdaleTisdale, who missed the first six games of the season, made his presence felt Thursday, with a team-high 11 tackles, including five solo stops, and one sack that was a loss of seven yards for the Pack.

Defensive back Mansoor DelaneThe true freshman is starting to come into his own, as Delane turned in 10 tackles (4 solo), forced a fumble and had two pass breakups in Raleigh, with all three categories being career highs.
