WSJ Tech Live 2022: Latest Updates - The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal begins its Tech Live conference today in Laguna Beach, Calif. Conversations with top executives, technologists and investors are slated through Wednesday and will focus on new trends and ideas that define the industry at a time of great economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

First, starting at 1:40 p.m. PT, Intel Chief Executive Pat Gelsinger discusses the expansion of semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S. and the impact of recent restrictions on chip exports to China. Following that, at 2:10 p.m. PT, Palmer Luckey, founder of defense-technology company Anduril Industries, talks about his company’s involvement in Ukraine and his vision for the future of national security.

The conference then features conversations about the future of transportation. Lyft CEO John Zimmer will discuss how the ride-hailing company is responding to the economic cooldown and drop in demand at 2:35 p.m. PT. After that, Waymo CEO Tekedra Mawakana gives an update on the company’s push to make autonomous driving a reality.

At 4:00 p.m. PT, Ancestry CEO Deb Liu talks about the consumer DNA and genealogy service’s push into new markets. Then two VCs, Softbank’s Lydia Jett and Forerunner’s Kirsten Green, discuss the outlook for e-commerce and the post-pandemic slowdown at 4:40 p.m. PT.

Grammy Award-winning musician and leader of the Roots Tariq Trotter hits the stage at 5:05 p.m. PT to discuss his next act as an investor and newly appointed partner of Impellent Ventures.

At 7:45 p.m. PT, model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber joins with her creative partner, the director and producer Michael R. Ratner, to discuss their breakout YouTube series and the business of content creation online. This conversation will be livestreamed to the Journal’s Twitter account.

Tuesday and Wednesday highlights include Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Apple executives Greg Joswiak and Craig Federighi, the digital artist Beeple, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and many others.
