Clean energy technologies saw record investment last year: $1.7 trillion in total. But that’s still short of what’s needed to meet climate goals. And with VC investment now falling, climate tech startups are facing major headwinds; many are at risk of going bust.
That’s not due to a lack of funds, says Claire Curry, global head of technology, industry & innovation at BloombergNEF. “There's actually more money that's been raised by climate funds that hasn’t been spent yet than ever before,” Curry told Zero host Akshat Rathi.
