techsooper.blogspot.com
BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech athletics department has announced several gameday experience elements fans can expect at Hokie women's basketball games at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum this season.

Season tickets are still available and offer the best value when compared to single game tickets. Seats can be secured for reserved seats or general admission. Click here to learn more about season tickets.

Mini plans were unveiled last Tuesday, Oct. 19, and include flex tickets as well as a three-game plan. Single game tickets will be made available Thursday, Oct. 28. Click here for more information on ticket offerings for the upcoming season.

MOBILE TICKETING
As announced back on Aug. 8, Virginia Tech Athletics has transitioned to mobile tickets for all ticketed athletic events in an effort to provide a more convenient, sustainable and secure gameday experience.

A majority of Tech women's basketball season tickets and all partial plan and single game tickets will be delivered digitally. Cassell Coliseum premium seating areas and parking passes will remain as physical tickets. Fans are strongly encouraged to download their tickets before arriving at the arena to guarantee the quickest entry experience possible.

With the introduction of an enhanced HokieSports mobile app and My Account portal, managing tickets on a mobile device has never been easier. For complete details, including step-by-step instructions and FAQs, please visit HokieSports.com/MobileTickets.

CASHLESS CONCESSION STANDS
In efforts to improve the flow and speed of transactions, Cassell Coliseum concession stands will move to cashless payment this season and will require a debit or credit cart for purchase. This practical adjustment designed to minimize wait times eliminates the exchanging and handling of currency as the overwhelming majority of concession stand purchases are already made via credit card.

Fans who do not have access to a debit or credit card should consider buying a prepaid credit card at Kroger in advance of the game. To those who wish to still pay in cash, the Hokie Shop will have a limited amount of gift cards available for cash purchase.

FAN-FRIENDLY CONCESSION PRICING & ALCOHOL SALES
After debuting at Lane Stadium this fall, fan-friendly concession pricing will be implemented at Cassell Coliseum this season. Fans can expect to find classic gameday items like hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, Coca-Cola fountain drinks and bottled water available for $2.50 each.

Additionally, select beer and seltzers will continue to be available for purchase in Cassell Coliseum. All fans will be required to show proper identification to purchase any alcoholic beverages.

CLEAR BAG POLICY
Virginia Tech's clear bag policy remains in place for Cassell Coliseum. This policy helps provide a safer environment for spectators and expedites fan entry into the arena. Approved bags are limited to:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x12"
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bag approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap and no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"
For more information, please visit HokieSports.com/ClearBag.

INDOOR MASK MANDATES
In keeping with current guidelines related to wearing masks at university events, Virginia Tech will require masks regardless of vaccination status for all indoor events scheduled for Cassell Coliseum. Such events include wrestling matches, men's and women's basketball games, and the 2021 fall commencement ceremonies. Masks are already required to be worn for volleyball matches within Cassell.

Proof of vaccination or a negative test will not be required to attend an event at Cassell Coliseum. Masks can be removed when people are actively eating or drinking.

GAMEDAY PARKING
Parking for Tech women's basketball season ticket holders has not changed for the upcoming season. Permits will still be required to park in Lots 1, 4 and 8. Parking is first come, first served.

For those fans without parking permits, public parking for home basketball games will be located in the Stadium Lot and in the large fenced resident parking lot off Duck Pond Drive (the cage). Vehicles should be parked in the large section of the cage closest to the Duck Pond. Accessible parking is available in the Coliseum Lot. Fans parking in public lots Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. will need to pay to park using the university's ParkMobile platform. Click here to learn about ParkMobile.

For questions, please email parking@vt.edu or call 540-231-3200.

THEME GAMES, HALFTIME ACTS & GIVEAWAYS
Fans can expect a number of themed games this season, including Military Appreciation, National Girls and Women in Sports Day and more. Additionally, Hokie Kids' Club members and Virginia Tech faculty & staff members will have unique experiences at select games.

  • Black Out - Sunday, Feb. 13 vs. North Carolina
  • Maroon Out - Thursday, Feb. 24 vs. Miami

Fans will once again be able to purchase exclusive experiences to enhance their gameday through Maroon & Orange Memories. To access the platform, download the HokieSports mobile app and use the menu in the top left corner. Experiences for Tech women's basketball will be made available closer to the season.

DIGITAL SEAT
Fans can find QR codes on their seats this season which, once scanned on a mobile device, can access the game program, team rosters, stats and more. The QR codes also allow fans to enter promotions and giveaways as well as file incident reports.
