BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football prepares for its first ACC road trip of the season when it travels to Atlanta for a Noon ET matchup with Georgia Tech on Saturday. For info on how to watch, listen and follow along.

Saturday will be the 18th time the Hokies (3-4, 1-2 ACC) and Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-2 ACC) face off and first since the 2019 season when VT won 45-0 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Hokies lead the all-time series between the programs 10-7.

Last week's top performers:
  • The Hokies lost in the final minute to Syracuse a week ago while the Yellow Jackets' comeback effort vs. Virginia came up short.
  • True freshman RB Malachi Thomas recorded 21 carries for 151 yards with three touchdowns against Syracuse. The Hartwell, Georgia native became the first Tech RB to rush for 100+ yards and three touchdowns since David Wilson accomplished the feat vs. Appalachian State on Sept. 3, 2011. Thomas is also the first Tech true freshman to rush for 100 yards since at least 1987.
  • DB Chamarri Conner blocked an Orange PAT and CB Dorian Strong returned it 95 yards for a two-point score. It was the first blocked PAT score for the Hokies since Aug. 30, 2008, when Stephan Virgil scored against East Carolina.
  • TE Drake DeIuliis recorded his first career TD catch on a 22-yard reception vs. Syracuse.
  • S Nasir Peoples and S Tae Daley led the team with 11 tackles apiece, while Daley forced his second career fumble and first in a Tech uniform.
  • GT QB Jeff Sims threw for 300 yards with three touchdowns vs. the Cavaliers while rushing for 65 yards in the loss.
  • GT RB Jahmyr Gibbs recorded 13 carries for 132 yards with a touchdown and hauled in three receptions for 19 yards.
  • GT WR Kyric McGowan led the Yellow Jackets in receiving, registering seven receptions for 86 yards with two touchdowns.
 What to watch for Saturday:
  • The Hokies are looking for back-to-back wins vs. the Yellow Jackets for the first time since winning four straight contests from 2010-13.
  • Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech have played two common opponents so far this season, with both teams getting wins over North Carolina and losing to Pitt.
  • VT is the least-penalized team in the nation, being flagged only 24 times for an FBS-low 206 penalty yards.
  • CB Jermaine Waller continues to lead the ACC in interceptions with four which is tied for second in the FBS. Waller and Iowa's Riley Moss remain the only Power Five players with four interceptions and an INT return TD this year.
  • WR Tré Turner needs two more receptions to pass Josh Morgan (122) for seventh on Tech's career receptions list and six more to pass Ernest Wilford (126) for sixth.
  • Turner also needs just 21 more receiving yards to pass Wilford (2,052) for seventh on Tech's career receiving yards list.
  • WR Tayvion Robinson is four receptions away from the career 100-reception mark. He will be Tech's 16th receiver to reach 100 career receptions.
  • S Nasir Peoples leads the team in tackles with 61 (35 solo) on the year. Peoples has either led or tied for the team lead in tackles in four of Tech's seven games this season.
