Lacrosse Cruises Past Virginia Tech - Boston College Athletics

techsooper.blogspot.com CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse team put forth a stellar effort in an 18-8 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Stadium.

The Eagles improve to 11-1 on the season and 4-1 in ACC play, while moving to 5-1 at home. VT falls to 8-6 and 2-4 in league action.

Charlotte North tied a season-high with seven goals and posted a team-best eight draw controls. Caitlynn Mossman earned a fourth straight hat trick with three scores on top of one assist.

Jenn Medjid totaled a pair of goals with three assists for five points. North (7 points), Medjid, Mossman (4 points) and Belle Smith (3 points; 1G, 2A) were the four Eagles with at least three points. Six players had at least two points on the afternoon.

All it took was a 4-0 start in the opening 5:03 of the game for Boston College to take a lead that it wouldn't relinquish. Kayla Martello was the first to strike before North scored three straight times.

BC's hot start led to an 8-1 first-quarter lead after Martello's second goal of the game. The Eagles never trailed by less than seven throughout the rest of the contest, cruising to their fourth consecutive win in the series.

Melanie Welch and Hunter Roman led the team with a pair of caused turnovers. Courtney Taylor recorded five draw controls, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. Sydney Scales also registered three ground balls with one caused turnover.

Hollie Schleicher tallied three ground balls with four draw controls and a caused turnover, while Rachel Hall totaled five saves between the posts in the triumph. It's the 39th straight victory when allowing fewer than 10 goals.

BC returns to action next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Notre Dame.
