BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Virginia Tech is set to compete for its first ACC Tournament championship on Saturday night against No. 7 Duke inside the Barclays Center. The Hokies have won three games in the last three days, including triumphs over No. 2 seed Notre Dame and No. 3 seed North Carolina, to get into this position. For Tech head coach Mike Young, it will be his sixth championship game appearance, going 5-0 in the Southern Conference title game at Wofford.

THE SERIES

Tech will seek to defeat Duke for the second time in its last three tries Saturday night in Brooklyn.
The Hokies trail in the all-time series, 51-11. Their last win in the series came on Jan. 12, 2021 in Blacksburg (74-67).
Earlier this season, Tech fell at Duke 76-65 on Dec. 22.
Tech and Duke will face off in the ACC Tournament for the third time, with the Blue Devils winning the previous two outings (2011, 2012). This will be their first meeting in Brooklyn.

Tech is the third No. 7 seed to reach the ACC Tournament final: Georgia Tech (2010) and UVA (1977). However, the Hokies will look to accomplish what those teams did not - win the title game.
Darius Maddox dialed up a career-high 20 points, including a 4 for 5 clip from 3-point range, to power Tech past UNC, 72-59, in the semifinals.
Keve Aluma has 57 points through three games at the ACC Tournament - a Tech record that was previously held by Malcolm Delaney (50 points in 2011).
The Hokies are averaging 78.3 ppg at the ACC tourney.

MORE HISTORY ON THE HORIZON?

Virginia Tech is set to make its first appearance in the ACC Tournament final, meanwhile Duke is making its 34th trip (21-12).
The last time the Hokies made a postseason tournament final was the 1995 NIT Championship vs. Marquette in Madison Square Garden. Shawn Smith sank two free throws with 0.7 seconds left to lift Tech to the 65-64 win in overtime.
The Hokies' last conference tournament final came in 1984 in the Metro Conference, falling to No. 17 Memphis 78-65 in Memphis, Tenn.
Tech's only conference tournament title in program history is the 1979 Metro Conference championship, defeating Florida State 68-60 in the final.
The Hokies also made the Southern Conference Tournament final in 1960 and 1962.

FINAL FAREWELL VS. THE HOKIES

Tech will once again get a shot to play spoiler in a coaching icon's farewell tour.
Roy Williams' final win in his coaching career came against Tech in last year's ACC Tournament in Greensboro (81-73).
Mike Krzyzewski's final ACC Tournament game comes against the Hokies on Saturday night. It will be his 22nd ACC Tournament final appearance, passing UNC's Dean Smith for most all-time.

MARCH MADDOX

Darius Maddox continues his impeccable run of showing up when Virginia Tech needs him to make big plays. Maddox scored a game-high 20 points while hauling in six rebounds against North Carolina on Friday night.
Against the Tar Heels, Maddox set career highs in points (20), field goals made (7), 3-point field goals made (4), rebounds (6) and minutes (29).

HISTORIC RUN

On top of having an opportunity to win the school's first ACC Tournament championship, the Hokies have set school ACC Tournament records in each of its three games so far.
Tech's win against North Carolina was its largest margin of victory against a higher-seed in program history. The Hokies also tied its single-game ACC Tournament free-throw percentage, shooting 92.9% (13-14) from the stripe.
Against Notre Dame, Virginia Tech set new records for field goals made (31) and field-goal percentage (57.4%) in the tourney.
In its overtime win against Clemson, Tech made 12 3-pointers, also a new high for the Hokies in the ACC Tournament.
